Surveys undertaken Back to Top

There are 13 'live' cohorts of UK medical graduates included in our regular survey schedule.

The surveys we have undertaken of each cohort are listed below.

Taken together, they comprise 59 completed surveys of these cohorts.

  • The 1974 cohort has been surveyed 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 23 and 40 years after graduation.
  • The 1977 cohort has been surveyed 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 18, 27 and 37 years after graduation.
  • The 1983 cohort has been surveyed 1, 3, 11 and 15 years after graduation.
  • The 1988 cohort has been surveyed 7, 11 and 16 years after graduation.
  • The 1993 cohort has been surveyed 1, 3, 5, 9, 11 and 17 years after graduation.
  • The 1996 cohort has been surveyed 1, 3, 5, 7, 11 and 19 years after graduation.
  • The 1999 cohort has been surveyed 1, 3, 5, 7 and 13 years after graduation.
  • The 2000 cohort has been surveyed 1, 3, 5, 7 and 12 years after graduation.
  • The 2002 cohort has been surveyed 1, 3, 5, and 11 years after graduation.
  • The 2005 cohort has been surveyed 1, 3 and 5 years after graduation.
  • The 2008 cohort has been surveyed 1, 3 and 6 years after graduation.
  • The 2009 cohort has been surveyed 1 year after graduation.
  • The 2012 cohort has been surveyed 1 and 3 years after graduation.

A survey of the 1983 cohort after 33 years and a survey of the 2015 cohort after 1 year are currently underway.


Other surveys Back to Top

A survey of UK graduates who have emigrated to New Zealand was completed in 2010.

The UK medical graduates of 1980 were surveyed 1,3 and 5 years after graduation but were not followed up further.

The 2011 cohort of UK medical graduates was surveyed 1 year after graduation and will not be followed up further.

Further surveys are considered in consultation with the Department of Health and will be announced in due course.
